It’s been a while between styling posts but we’re back with a look at new season Sportscraft! We are big fans of the brand and shop regularly with clients of all ages, shapes and sizes.
Sportscraft are known for their classic cuts, good fabrics and tailored pieces, but also have a reputation for being a big ‘daggy’. If you’re one of those people who have this pre-conceived opinion, well I suspect this post will make you think otherwise.
Sally’s Picks
I decided that rather than choose 1 item to style 3 ways, I’d select pieces to wear with my favourite item- denim. So before you ask me, “are those jeans from Sportscraft?”, no they’re not (Sandro Paris- similar here) and shoes are mine too (current season Country Road– hurry these have sold like hot cakes)
LOOK #1 ‘The Classic Navy Blazer‘ $349.00
The Sportscraft Signature range is lovely. Premium fabrics at a higher price point, but as we say you get what you pay for. This gorgeous navy military inspired blazer with statement gold buttons is a classic for your wardrobe.
Although this is technically a double breasted jacket, the shape is great so don’t despair if you’re big busted or carry weight in your tummy. Just never button it up.
I teamed it over the multi striped Magic Tee $79.99. These tee’s are one of Sportscraft’s best sellers. They’re so soft and comfortable. Did you know narrow horizontal tripes are a great disguise for the tummy? Don’t believe me? Give one a go!
LOOK #2 ‘The Classic Navy Trench‘ $299.99
I’ve only ever owned 2 trench coats. The first was from Country Road (and I still have it after 7 years!) and the second was purchased this year from Sportscraft Signature. Sportscraft know how to do a great trench.
The Valentina Trench is available in both navy and classic beige (biscuit as they call it) and on me falls to just above the knee. So on most of you, it will fall to the perfect knee length which is the most versatile and stylish length.
I teamed the Mina Striped shirt underneath which is made of a beautiful soft stretch cotton. When teaming a shirt under any sort of jacket, try exposing the cuffs to add a little bit of added interest to your look, as I’ve done here. You can see I’ve also done the ‘half front tuck’ tucking only one side of my shirt. Have fun with fashion ladies!
LOOK #3 ‘The Check Blazer’ $299.99
This is one of Sportscraft’s new key season looks, with a matching trouser. It really had my name all over it. I should have tried some print on print and showed you the trousers but I couldn’t be bothered taking my jeans off! Getting in and out of all these clothes is exhausting! Now we know how you feel 😉
Underneath I chose the cornflower blue Daisy Linen shirt which also comes in white. The reason I chose the blue however was to create a monochrome look with my jeans. As you’ve heard me bang on about it before, wearing similar tones head to toe is not only slimming and lengthening, but it’s also super stylish.
Again, you can see I’ve rolled the sleeves of the blazer so the cuffs of the shirt are exposed. Sometimes its the little details that make an outfit. Give it a try.
Anne’s Picks
LOOK #1 ‘The Long Double Breasted Coat’ $349.99
When Anne and I walked into Sportscraft and started to select our pieces, guess what? We both chose the same things! So we had to learn to share and compromise 😉
Anne picked this gorgeous long wool pea coat, similar to the double breasted blazer with the same gold hardware. Stylist Prue has already spotted it on Anne’s Instagram and is heading in ASAP to get it!
Sportscraft have introduced their very first skinny jean.. get outta town! And who else but to test them out than gorgeous long legged Anne. How good do they look? The Kate High Waisted Jean $149.00 are both long (get in there tall girls!) high rise (great for tummy control!) soft and stretchy. But importantly they still look and feel like jeans, not jeggings.
LOOK #2 ‘The Striped Shirt“
As I said before, Anne and I kept choosing the same items, so I let her style this one also. If you have a lovely décolletage like Anne, why not show it off with a statement bralette? Anne is a big fan of these, and again they can add a touch of sass to your outfit- even a classic striped shirt!
Roll up the sleeves for an edgier look, do the front tuck into your fave pair of jeans, and off you go.
And here are a few fave bralette styles from sass and bide // asos // bra’s n things
LOOK #3 ‘The Dressy Knit’
Knitwear is one of the things Sportscraft does best, and this lovely Bergen ivory cable knit $229.99 is from the Signature range. Made of super soft wool and cashmere with a beautiful large cowl neckline, this knit can take you from the office to dinner.
For work, wear with a classic pencil skirt or slim leg trouser, and casually like Anne you can team with your favourite jeans. Depending on how dressy you want to wear it, you can drop the cowl neck over your shoulders for a more dramatic look, or even wear asymmetrically on one shoulder.
Equally, if you like a cowl neck you can exaggerate the neckline by wearing it forward and over the bust. This works very well for both big and small busts.
Sally’s Knit Choice
Another pick from the Signature range, I’ve been eyeing off this Celia Slouch Knit $229.99 for a couple of weeks. I’ve suggested it to a couple of clients but I think they were afraid of the asymmetric and batwing combination. I love it!
Again, the fabric is lovely made of 93% wool and 7% cashmere. I can see this thrown on with an A-line pleated skirt and knee high boots or simply as styled below with jeans and flats. I think I might have to get this one.
