‘Burgundy is a shade of reddish brown associated with the Burgundy wine of the same name, which in turn is named after theBurgundy region of France which in turn is named after the ancient Burgundians, a Germanic tribe.’
~ Wikipedia
Ok, we get it- French wine and German tribes. An interesting combination.
But the combinations I find way more interesting are the colours that work perfectly with burgundy, making it one of this winters hottest shades.
One of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to wear a new colour trend is through accessories. Here I’ve created some outfit inspiration and my favourite colour combos.
Burgundy and Black
Probably the easiest way to introduce burgundy into your winter wardrobe is by pairing it with black. This is a very heavy colour combo, meaning its perfect for the cold months and evenings.
Outfit Inspo: Why not try a burgundy leather jacket this season? Team with black skinny jeans for a ‘biker chick’ look or a softer, cropped pant and the ‘it’ boots of the season, the high ankle boot (boot finishes further up the leg to be worn with cropped pants)

Burgundy and Grey
I love this combination. The grey creates a softer than with black, meaning it’s a great combination for the months either side of winter, autumn and spring.
Outfit Inspo: Layer your existing chunky grey jumpers or coats with a pair of burgundy jeans. Make sure you add some textural variety to your outfit when combining more than one item in the same colour`. This might be a grey ribbed jumper under grey wool coat with a grey fleck scarf.

Burgundy and Navy
Navy is another color that works beautifully with burgundy. If combining these colours together feels too dark, soft shades of blue work well as well.
Outfit Inspo: A burgundy boot is a great colour to add to a neutral wardrobe. Team with denim and navy for a sophisticated, casual look.

Burgundy and Camel
Another stunning colour with burgundy, camel really compliments the warm tones and creates a soft, modern look.
Outfit Inspo: A wool hat is another easy way to update your winter wardrobe. Have some fun with varying tones of camel (not everything has to match) and include different textures and fabrics in your outfit, like the leopard print, knitwear and leather.

Burgundy and Gold
Gold is a beautiful match with burgundy and makes a particularly striking combination for evening wear.
Outfit Inspo: Accessorise a burgundy dress with gold earrings, bracelet and clutch.
