1 item, 3 ways in Decjuba with Sally & Prue

Last week stylist Prue and I headed to Decjuba for another ‘1 item, 3 ways’ styling session. We’ve been wanting to hit up Decjuba for some time to have a play with their new season offerings. I also thought it would be a good fit for new mum Prue, with their great range of on-trend casual wear and the introduction of their new D-LUXE basics range.

Over to you Prue…

I picked my item, the Rhia Military Trench, as I wanted to challenge myself to style a piece that a lot of gals would have in their wardrobe from their professional working days, and make it usable for any occasion that calls for a more casual look eg. weekends, school drop offs, grocery shopping

My life with 2 small children has become a revolving door of jeans, tees and casual pants, so I wanted to challenge myself to work in something with a bit more structure for when I feel like stepping my style up a notch (but still remaining extremely practical for running around after little people!)

My body after my 2nd bub has changed, so this was a fun (and eye opening!!) experiment for my first time ‘back in the saddle’ since Alfie was born 4 months ago.

Look 1

I wanted to work with shades of blue, as the Rhia Trench’s gorgeous colour could work with either lighter or darker shades.

I paired with straight leg Jeans (the style I’m wearing with the frayed hem is only available in-store, but this style is a similar cut), with the Alena Side Tie top along with my fave pair of white sneakers. Rolling up the sleeves of the Trench, and tying the waist band at the back is a fun and easy way to incorporate the Trench into an otherwise comfy and casual look.

I also mixed this look up with a fun zig-zag print Scarf, that would be perfect for colder mornings (or when you are still trying to hide a bit of post-pregnancy baby bump like me!)

Look 2

This outfit is my typical go-to look when I need to feel a bit more glam than usual! But it’s still super comfy, and easy to wear.

Drop crotch pants (I know a lot of people are scared of this style, but it’s so flattering when you find the right pair for your shape), a black tee and the Trench over the top to pull the look together will have you dressed in 5 seconds flat.

I love this Pom Pom Beanie too – perfect for hiding 4 day old mum hair (who has the time to wash and style with kids?! Argh!! I salute you other mums with perfect hair!!)

I’ve worn this look with my fave pair of black ankle boots, but a pair of sneakers (either white or black) or a funky loafer/brogue would work perfectly too.

Look 3

For this look, I paired the Jeans from my first outfit, a Black Long Sleeve Tee, a Drape Choker Necklace and a Baseball Cap underneath the Trench – so comfy, yet very street style snapper ready! Try just draping the Trench over your shoulders for something a little different.

I’m loving hats at the moment -it’s definitely got a LOT to do with the lack of time to style my hair, but I love the way it can turn an ordinary outfit into something a bit different so easily.

And to my Outfits…

For my 1 item to style I chose the LUXE Drop Crotch PU Jogger Pant. OMG the most comfortable pant! They have a leather-like look and feel, but the softness of butter. The drop crotch is not too extreme either, and they taper in perfectly at the ankle.

Look 1

I’ve never owned a shearling jacket or vest but my eye was drawn to this Petra Shearling Coat in dove grey. I could see it working on a cold Sunday morning heading out to brunch, or to sit court side at weekend netball.

The jacket is very war, so I’ve teamed it over one of my favourite wardrobe items, the logo tee. Here I’m wearing the Oversized Printed Tee half tucked into the joggers. Remember it’s important to create some balance with this style of pant, so the half tuck works really well.

We all know how much I love a bit of ‘tone on tone’ so I grabbed this Bold Stripe Scarf to compliment the colours in the jacket. I’ve teamed with my own Lacoste white kicks.

Look 2

Sticking with the casual theme, I added this Liana reversible puffer jacket. Two jackets for the price of one! It was so light yet I could see it offering enough warm without being too bulky. I chose to wear the khaki side and picked up the colour in this Jazmine Animal linen tee.

I added a black Loose Knit Snood for some extra warmth around my neck. I don’t know about you but I find when my neck is warm, the rest of me is OK. The snood is one of those loop scarves that are really easy to wear and great for those of you who find scarf styling a tricky prospect!

Look 3

I’m still wearing the joggers but added my Habbot black ankle boots for a slightly dressed up look. I love the idea and look of an oversized white shirt worn underneath a chunky knit, and this Aspen Shirt Layered Knit does all the hard work for you!

Its a 2-in-1with the cuffs and shirt hem attached, so there’s not all the adjusting needed to get this look right. I loved the high funnel neckline and the knit was very soft and comfy. I can also see this working really well over a pair of jeans.

These Celine inspired Oversized Torte Sunnies made taking selfies a little easier particularly under those bright change room lights (and standing next to a much younger Prue!
